Senior Java Engineer (Elasticsearch)

Salary: €55,800–€88,300 EUR annual base salary; no variable compensation.

What you will do

• Evolve the core infrastructure and shared platform functionality underpinning hirify.globalsearch.
• Design and implement horizontally scalable features and APIs.
• Improve developer productivity through automation and agentic applications in development workflows.
• Investigate and resolve complex performance, concurrency, stability, and operational issues end to end.
• Improve the operation and observability of hirify.globalsearch cloud systems.
• Lead cross-team projects and collaborate with hirify.globalsearch engineers, users, support engineers, and open-source projects.

Requirements

• Strong core Java skills, including data structures, concurrency constructs, and newer language features.
• Experience with low-level Java, including concurrency, parallelism, and classloaders.
• Experience designing APIs, applying algorithms and data structures, and reasoning through technical tradeoffs.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems and practices such as Buildkite, Argo CD, or GitOps.
• Experience leading large-scale projects across engineering teams and owning them from technical design through delivery.
• Proven use of AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code while maintaining ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of JDK internals, the Java memory model, garbage collection, database load, and caching.
• Experience with observability and telemetry solutions, particularly OpenTelemetry.
• Knowledge of Go, containers, Kubernetes, and Java build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
• Experience in a platform or developer productivity team.
