Software Development Engineer II (InsurTech)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work model with at least three days per week in the office. Relocation assistance is not available.

Total cash range: $119,000–$166,500 per year, with potential increases up to $190,500 based on sustained performance.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput backend services for insurance and fintech products.
• Coordinate complex initiatives across pricing, checkout, booking, servicing, and other systems.
• Develop scalable APIs, pricing engines, and data models for dynamic and synthetic products.
• Contribute to zero-to-one product launches and rapidly iterate across brands and markets.
• Improve code performance, reliability, scalability, and operational quality in distributed systems.
• Participate in an on-call rotation approximately once per quarter and use AI-assisted development tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend services and API development experience in distributed systems.
• Experience with scalable, highly available system design.
• Proficiency in Kotlin or Java and experience working with AWS.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows or AI/ML-enabled systems.

Nice to have

• Experience in FinTech, InsurTech, pricing, risk, financial, or transactional systems at scale.
• Experience launching zero-to-one products or major features.
• Experience with cross-domain systems and extensive upstream and downstream dependencies.
• Backend-heavy full-stack capability, including frontend contributions when needed.
• Experience improving scalability, reliability, and operational performance.
