TL;DR
Spacecraft Development Engineer (Aerospace): Developing and scaling spacecraft systems from development through production ramp-up with an accent on requirements verification, system-level analysis, testing, and reliability. Focus on resolving technical issues, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and scaling engineering processes for high-rate spacecraft production.

Location: Redondo Beach, United States; onsite. The role requires flexibility and travel as needed. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Collaborate across disciplines to define requirements and verification approaches.
  • Support customer deliverables and create program documentation.
  • Perform system-level analyses for mission design, system optimization, and proposal development.
  • Develop engineering processes that improve reliability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Define and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare, plan, and execute system-level testing while resolving technical issues and scaling processes for high-rate spacecraft production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, fluids, or electrical systems.
  • Experience with requirements analysis and flow-down.
  • Leadership, communication, project ownership, and effective small-team collaboration skills.
  • Eligibility to work on ITAR-controlled space technology is required.

Nice to have

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with spacecraft programs and missions across the lifecycle from concept to in-orbit operations.
  • Development or testing experience, MATLAB or Excel analysis, and CAD hardware design experience.
  • Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
