Staff Triage & RCA Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid position based out of the Fremont office; all roles are U.S.-based. Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Anticipated base salary range: $191,000–$249,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Lead complex software, firmware, and system-level failure triage across robotic systems.
• Conduct end-to-end root cause investigations using logs, telemetry, video, and system behavior.
• Define triage workflows, RCA methodologies, standards, and escalation criteria.
• Develop scalable diagnostic scripts, automation, and data analysis frameworks.
• Improve observability, telemetry, logging, and system diagnosability across the robot fleet.
• Mentor engineers and influence Software, Hardware, Controls, and Systems teams on reliability and fault isolation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in systems integration, software-hardware interfaces, R&D, or similar work involving complex mechatronic or autonomous systems.
• Mastery of log parsing and proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, or New Relic.
• Experience retrieving and analyzing large-scale telemetry and video datasets using cloud storage and databases such as AWS S3, SQL, or NoSQL.
• Strong understanding of robotics software stacks and communication protocols including EtherCAT and CAN.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; current U.S. work authorization is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with hardware-software integration and design on HiL systems.
• Experience troubleshooting hardware-software interactions involving cameras, encoders, IMUs, or other sensors.
