Operating Engineer

What you will do

• Maintain and monitor HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, air conditioning, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems.
• Record system readings, make operational adjustments, and maintain engineering logs, data sheets, and building-round records.
• Analyze operations, troubleshoot malfunctions, and implement corrective and preventive maintenance actions.
• Oversee contractors working in the building and communicate critical operational requirements.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures, technical bulletins, and established engineering guidelines.
• Support the development of complex utility, electrical, and mechanical procedures and protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED equivalent, or technical training/degree.
• At least 3 years of experience in facilities operations, maintenance, and engineering.
• 01, 07, or 06A Electrical license.
• Technical knowledge of critical environments, HVAC systems, building systems, and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow work management processes and maintain a clean and safe workplace.

Nice to have

• Operating Engineer (BOC) or other applicable licenses.
• Universal CFC license or ability to obtain it within 90 days.
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), energy management, sustainability programs, regulatory inspections, or environmental audits.
• Experience presenting technical topics and working with clients or tenants in critical facilities.
• Willingness to accept on-call responsibilities.
