Transmission Operations Engineer (Power Systems)

Location: Hybrid role based in Vacaville, California, with work performed from a remote office and the assigned work location according to business needs.

Annual salary: $120,888–$193,020.

What you will do

• Provide engineering analysis, contingency analysis, clearance support, operating procedures, power flow studies, and technical support for electric system operations.
• Use computer models of the PG&E transmission system and interconnected systems to conduct power system studies.
• Investigate operating problems, analyze technical issues, and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Support compliance with NERC, WECC, and RC West industry standards and develop compliance programs when needed.
• Coordinate with Transmission Planning, Outage Planning, System Protection, Substation Engineering, Substation Asset Strategy, CAISO, WECC, RC West, and other external organizations.
• Provide technical training, compile engineering data, and participate in post-event analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited US curriculum or an equivalent international program.
• At least 3 years of cumulative experience in electric system operations engineering.
• Ability to perform routine operations engineering duties with limited supervision and moderate direction and review.
• Knowledge of power system stability studies and transmission operations.
• Understanding of related disciplines, including system protection, transmission planning, and substation design.
• Current and active California PE License is preferred.
