Sr. Principal Software Engineer - Network Security - PanOS Dev

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; primarily onsite

Salary: $183,600–$297,000 per year, with potential bonus and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain real-time, high-throughput security services and networking infrastructure.
• Lead complex engineering projects from architecture and design reviews through deployment and production monitoring.
• Own critical control-plane and data-plane components for GlobalProtect server infrastructure.
• Improve system availability, fault tolerance, scalability, secure coding, code review, and performance.
• Diagnose complex server-side and network-level issues with limited diagnostic information.
• Drive automated testing, CI/CD, code coverage, and AI-assisted development practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise networking or cybersecurity.
• Strong proficiency in C, Go, and Python in a Linux/Unix development environment.
• Extensive experience with multithreaded programming, asynchronous I/O, and large-scale, high-performance, or distributed server architectures.
• Hands-on TCP/IP networking software development and knowledge of lower-level network protocols.
• Experience leading complex technical projects from conception to release and mentoring senior engineers.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• RESTful API design and integration experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test-driven development, automated integration testing, and performance profiling.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or LLM coding assistants.
• Experience working in agile, fast-paced engineering environments.
