Principal Software Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Morrisville, North Carolina, United States; hybrid working environment with in-office and/or in-person expectations

Salary: $227,800–$338,000 annually, with final compensation determined by location, qualifications, experience, and education.

What you will do

• Lead architectural design and guide critical technical decisions for the Trident Kubernetes storage program.
• Design, implement, debug, and deliver production-quality software for persistent storage in containerized environments.
• Provide technical leadership across engineering teams and associated programs.
• Partner with product management on roadmap planning, prioritization, and solution adoption.
• Engage with customers on escalations, requirements, and solution validation.
• Represent Kubernetes storage solutions in open-source and industry forums.

Requirements

• 12+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong coding skills in Go and Python.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture, APIs, and ecosystem.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure, plus hirify.global storage or cloud-native storage solutions.
• Knowledge of computer architecture, algorithms, software engineering practices, Agile/Scrum, and technical communication.

Nice to have

• Open-source contribution experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and object-oriented design.
• Experience with CSI and Kubernetes storage workflows.
• Technical leadership in cross-functional engineering teams.
• Master’s degree in a technical field.
