Access & Pump Engineering Co-op

What you will do

• Conduct feasibility testing, including part inspection, root-cause investigations, fixture development, component prototyping, mechanical testing, thrombus-loop testing, and component interaction studies.
• Design and rapidly manufacture fixtures, prototype devices, and perform secondary operations and assembly on procured subcomponents.
• Develop and validate test methods in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Evaluate prototype devices for usability, hemostasis, insertion and removal forces, repositioning forces, anatomy compatibility, single-access compatibility, and thrombus-formation mitigation.
• Perform statistical analysis of collected data against historical or baseline data.
• Support access device, component, and kit development for the Cardiology team.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
• Experience with computer-aided design; SolidWorks proficiency is preferred.
• Knowledge of rapid prototype manufacturing, experimental design, test method development, mechanics, and fluid flow.
• Familiarity with statistical analysis, root-cause analysis, and problem solving.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without requiring current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Prior medical device experience.
• Experience developing products in a regulated environment.
