Mechanical Engineering Co-op Full Time Intern Jan - June 2027 (Medical Devices)

Location: San Francisco, California; full-time, six-month assignment from January through June 2027. Candidates must be available for the complete assignment.

Estimated pay range: $25.00–$35.00 per hour. Housing assistance or a housing stipend is not provided.

What you will do

• Design mechanical components and test fixtures using SolidWorks.
• Create engineering drawings, specifications, test methods, protocols, and reports for design control, manufacturing transfer, and regulatory documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical, research, electrical, systems, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing partners on product requirements and verification activities.
• Build and test prototypes through rapid iteration cycles, including 3D printing.
• Support design assessments, failure analysis of production components and field returns, and identification of product improvements.
• Set up and maintain laboratory equipment as needed.

Requirements

• Pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field.
• Experience with solid modeling and engineering drawing creation using SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with laboratory test equipment and hands-on fixture and test-protocol work.
• Strong troubleshooting, critical-thinking, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Comfort working with minimal supervision and contributing to a supportive, respectful team environment.
• Must be available for the full January–June 2027 assignment in San Francisco.
