Mechanical Hardware Test & Validation Engineer (Electric Vehicles)

Location: Palo Alto, United States; on-site. Travel to test vendors may be required up to 15% of the time.

Salary: $180,000–$215,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

What you will do

• Develop test plans and lead end-to-end execution, analysis, and reporting with design, systems, and reliability engineers.
• Perform performance, reliability, durability, and environmental testing of low-voltage electromechanical modules.
• Set up and operate data acquisition systems, sensors, and other test equipment across varied test conditions.
• Coordinate testing with third-party vendors, contract manufacturers, and test facilities.
• Analyze results and prepare technical documentation covering methods, observations, and conclusions.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment and help develop new test fixtures and setups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on physical testing experience from academic, personal, or internship projects, including setup, instrumentation, data recording, and teardowns.
• Understanding of data acquisition systems, sensors, and test equipment.
• Basic programming or scripting experience for data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Strong problem-solving, documentation, communication, and project ownership skills.
