TL;DR
Advanced Product Development & Integration Engineer - Electrical Systems (Unmanned Systems) (Electrical Systems/UxS): Designing and integrating electrical architectures for air, ground, and maritime unmanned systems with an accent on power distribution, batteries, wiring harnesses, interfaces, sensors, payloads, and onboard computing. Focus on building and validating prototype hardware, solving power-quality and signal-integrity problems, and transitioning designs into production through bench and field testing.

Location: Red Cat Corporate, Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. The role requires outdoor work at test ranges, vehicle test areas, docks, and aboard small vessels, with approximately 25% travel for field testing, demonstrations, and customer events.

Company

hirify.global develops multi-domain unmanned systems for defense customers across air, ground, and maritime environments.

What you will do

  • Evaluate emerging electrical components, power technologies, and partner hardware through bench testing and rapid prototyping.
  • Design electrical architectures for unmanned platforms, including power distribution, battery integration, grounding, circuit protection, power conversion, schematics, PCB layouts, and harnesses.
  • Integrate payloads, sensors, navigation systems, radios, onboard computers, and other mission equipment across air, ground, and maritime vehicles.
  • Build and bring up prototype hardware while validating pinouts, power rails, signal integrity, and subsystem interfaces.
  • Support bench, flight, ground, and on-water testing; troubleshoot failures and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain electrical documentation and support design-for-manufacturing activities, production transition, customer demonstrations, and field events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience designing or integrating electrical hardware, preferably for unmanned systems, robotics, aerospace, marine, automotive, or defense applications.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium, KiCad, or OrCAD.
  • Experience with wire-harness design, connector selection, electrical interface definition, DC power systems, batteries, grounding, and circuit protection.
  • Familiarity with CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, PWM, and DShot interfaces, as well as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and soldering or rework tools.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and must not require sponsorship for ITAR/EAR-controlled work. Successful completion of a post-offer background check is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with multi-domain unmanned systems, robotics, FPV or small UAS hardware, marine systems, ground vehicles, or other mobile platforms.
  • Knowledge of RF/datalink integration, antennas, interference mitigation, environmental sealing, waterproofing, or corrosion control.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, production transition, Python-based test automation, or data analysis.
  • Military or operational experience with unmanned systems, or hands-on experience building and operating FPV/UxS platforms.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on work across laboratory, vehicle, flight, ground, and maritime test environments.
  • Regular collaboration with embedded, mechanical, RF/datalink, autonomy, test, manufacturing, and production engineers.
  • Work involves lithium batteries, high-current electrical systems, rotating machinery, moving vehicles, and RF equipment under required safety and PPE procedures.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds and work standing, kneeling, crouching, or in tight spaces is required.
  • Occasional extended hours or weekend work may be required during test events.
