TL;DR
Embedded SDET Co-Op Full Time Intern (Medical Devices) (Python/Embedded Testing): Building automated workflows within an embedded software test framework for cardiac monitoring technology with an accent on requirements-based testing, firmware behavior, and medical device software development. Focus on integrating internal tools, debugging hardware-software issues, developing repeatable tests, and investigating defects with cross-functional engineering teams.

Location: San Francisco, California; candidates must be available for the full January–June 2027 assignment

Salary: $25.00–$35.00 per hour

What you will do

  • Implement automated testing workflows within an embedded software test framework.
  • Integrate internal tools from other engineering teams into the test framework.
  • Develop system-level understanding of embedded firmware behavior.
  • Work with requirements, test cases, manual test methods, and code reviews.
  • Investigate and correct defects with software and hardware engineers.
  • Learn and apply medical device software development lifecycle practices.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a degree or advanced degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Availability for the full-time, six-month January–June 2027 co-op assignment in San Francisco.
  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with PEP 8 coding standards.
  • Understanding of object-oriented analysis, design, programming, and testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with Git, release methodologies, requirements-based testing, and software automation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with software debugging.
  • Practical understanding of how embedded devices work and fail.
