Quality Manager (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Location: Los Angeles, CA; on-site

Salary: $110,000–$165,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Build, lead, and develop the Quality Engineering team across sheet metal, welding and forming, NDT, foundry and forging, machining, and additive manufacturing.
• Own end-to-end program quality for Nautilus, including first-article inspection, product qualification, and quality from receipt through delivery.
• Integrate NAVSEA and SUBSAFE / Material Level I requirements into the AS9100D quality management system.
• Control non-conforming material and customer escapes, drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and manage escape closure.
• Flow quality requirements to suppliers, verify certifications and objective quality evidence at receipt, and build receiving capability for controlled material.
• Lead customer, NAVSEA, AS9100, and internal audits while reporting quality KPIs, escape trends, and program status to leadership.

Requirements

• 8+ years of quality experience in defense, marine, nuclear, or aerospace manufacturing, including direct people management.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001 and experience integrating customer and regulatory requirements into a quality management system.
• Working knowledge of NAVSEA and SUBSAFE / Material Level I requirements, including objective quality evidence, controlled material, traceability, and cleanliness.
• Experience building quality processes and teams in a fast-scaling or startup manufacturing environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance and meet U.S. person / ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience at a submarine prime, shipyard, or qualified SUBSAFE supplier.
• AS9100 / ISO 9001 lead-auditor certification and familiarity with welding and NDT special-process controls such as Nadcap.
• CQE, CMQ/OE, or equivalent quality certification.
• Experience establishing program quality systems from the ground up.
