Senior Quality Engineer (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; full-time in-office position at the San Francisco HQ five days per week.

Salary: $144,500–$180,600 USD base salary annually for San Francisco; California outside San Francisco: $136,000–$170,000 USD annually. Additional short- and long-term incentives may apply.

What you will do

• Implement, maintain, and audit quality management systems in partnership with the Quality Engineer Lead.
• Guide, train, and mentor quality technicians on inspection techniques, blueprints, and standard operating procedures.
• Develop inspection protocols for incoming materials, in-process testing, and final product release.
• Provide hands-on production support, inspect parts, troubleshoot shop-floor issues, and resolve non-conformances.
• Lead PFMEA sessions, Lean Kaizen events, gap analyses, and process capability improvements.
• Manage quality metrics, audits, root-cause investigations, MRB dispositions, supplier corrective actions, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing operations, including 2+ years as a quality technician or inspection engineer.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems, including implementation or audit support.
• Strong ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings and GD&T, with proficiency using calipers, micrometers, gauges, dial indicators, CMMs, and optical comparators.
• Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods.
• Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, ERP/QMS platforms, and technical documentation tools; familiarity with Cal/OSHA regulations.

Nice to have

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt and/or ASQ certification such as CQE, CQA, or CQM.
• Experience establishing or scaling quality functions in high-growth hardware or startup environments.
• Demonstrated success delivering measurable improvements in quality and yield.
