Performance Engineer (Electric Generation)

Salary: $69,900–$170,300 per year, depending on level, qualifications, and experience.

What you will do

• Monitor, trend, and report the performance and health of renewable and conventional electric generation assets.
• Analyze SCADA and asset management software data to produce KPI reports, performance baselines, and stakeholder-ready analytics.
• Account for lost production caused by derates, outages, dispatch and transmission constraints, equipment degradation, controls issues, and environmental limitations.
• Investigate performance losses and data-related outages with Operations and Maintenance, Environmental, and Real-Time Systems teams.
• Support SCADA and asset management data validation, instrument health checks, tag configuration, outage planning, and post-outage performance reviews.
• Lead performance engineering, reliability assessments, corrective action planning, data governance, and fleet-wide improvement initiatives at higher levels.

Requirements

• Work authorization: legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program is preferred for the Associate level.
• Relevant experience ranges from 0–12+ months for Associate Engineer to 12+ years for Senior Engineer, with placement determined by qualifications.
• Knowledge of power generation and renewable assets, including wind, solar, battery systems, performance metrics, and production losses.
• Experience with data analysis, technical reports, Microsoft Excel and Word, drawings, manuals, tag lists, and asset performance monitoring.
• Valid driver’s license; programming knowledge in Python and SQL is required or preferred depending on level.

Nice to have

• Electric utility industry experience.
• EIT or PE certification.
• PMP certification or advanced project management skills.
• Advanced degree in Business or Engineering.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, C/C++, or R.
