HVAC Technician II - Gainesville (HVAC)

Location: Gainesville, Florida, United States; onsite role with 24/7 on-call emergency response within one hour

Salary: $27.18–$39.42 per hour

What you will do

• Operate, troubleshoot, calibrate, install, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC, process equipment, and related mechanical systems.
• Maintain high-pressure steam and condensate systems, compressed air, building automation systems, and other facility infrastructure.
• Lead small-scale installations and commissioning activities while coordinating contractors, engineers, and the landlord.
• Manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities and document work in the CMMS.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Technician I staff.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call coverage, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response.

Requirements

• Must work onsite in Gainesville, Florida, and respond to on-campus emergencies within one hour.
• Vocational or technical degree in HVAC, mechanical engineering technology, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience; 5 years preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical and HVAC principles and operational knowledge of building automation systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, refrigeration cycles, control schematics, and piping systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, documentation, and basic electrical, plumbing, and building-trades skills.

Nice to have

• Associate's degree.
• Experience supporting complex critical environments, research facilities, or animal colonies.
