Engineer II, Modelling and Simulation (C++)

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of distributed real-time simulation systems across virtual, constructive, and live environments.
• Develop high-performance C++ software for modelling, simulation, integration workflows, and interoperability with legacy standards.
• Build and optimise multi-agent, high-fidelity, real-time, and system-of-systems simulation environments.
• Integrate defence simulation frameworks such as AFSIM and NGTS.
• Design containerised simulation deployments with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, testing, and operational environments.
• Lead engineering teams of five or more contributors and collaborate with autonomy, perception, hardware-interface, testing, and programme functions.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Extensive professional experience in software engineering, systems integration, and delivery of reliable software.
• Strong modern and legacy C++ experience, plus professional Python experience.
• Hands-on experience with real-time, distributed simulation systems or HWIL/SWIL environments.
• Experience with Docker or similar containerisation technologies and Linux development environments.
• Ability to obtain an Australian NV1 security clearance.

Nice to have

• Defence industry experience and experience with uncrewed aerial systems.
• Experience with AFSIM, NGTS, or similar defence simulation environments.
• Experience with data processing, analysis pipelines, or Python-based test automation.
