TL;DR
Software Engineer - Multiple Opportunities (Java/Ada/C++/C#): Developing and sustaining software for naval, ICT, and defence capabilities with an accent on system architecture, technical design, and safety-critical engineering. Focus on solving complex technical issues, reviewing code, supporting releases, and applying configuration management throughout the software development lifecycle.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. Flexible hybrid work from home/office and a 9-day fortnight may be considered. Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance, preferably NV1.

What you will do
- Participate in system architecture and technical design decisions for naval, ICT, and defence projects.
- Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, debug, and release software products.
- Review code and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Professional experience suitable for mid-level or senior software engineering opportunities.
- Fluency in at least one of Java, Ada, C++, or C#.
- Experience with procedural and object-oriented programming, design patterns, configuration management, and Git.
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and systems engineering practices across the software development lifecycle.
- Australian citizenship and eligibility to hold or obtain Australian Defence Security Clearance are required; export-control eligibility checks may also apply.
Nice to have
- Defence technology or complex software-intensive systems experience.
- Experience with Mavlink, Bash, Python, Go, TypeScript, DDS, IBM DOORS, Docker, or Atlassian tools.
- Linux development, test automation, human-machine interfaces, safety-critical systems, or large-scale enterprise systems experience.
