Software Engineer II (Laravel)

Location: Netherlands; hybrid work model with onsite attendance at least 50% of the time for employees within commuting distance of a hirify.global office

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend features and RESTful APIs with Laravel in a TALL stack environment.
• Own features from implementation through deployment, monitoring, iteration, and reliability improvements.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decisions for the Third Party Risk Management platform.
• Improve test coverage, CI/CD practices, engineering standards, and production observability.
• Mentor Software Engineer I colleagues through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
• Use AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, and documentation while validating outputs and protecting privacy and security.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience in an agile environment.
• Strong PHP and Laravel experience, ideally with Tailwind, Alpine, Laravel, and Livewire.
• Experience with MySQL or MariaDB, data modelling, query optimization, RESTful APIs, and system integrations.
• Practical experience with AWS or a similar cloud platform and Docker or other containerized environments.
• Ability to debug production issues using logs, monitoring, and observability tools.
• Clear communication skills, architectural documentation experience, and practical use of AI tools with awareness of their limitations and security implications.

Nice to have

• Experience with Vue, React, Blade, or Livewire in a Laravel context.
• Experience building SaaS products, particularly in risk, security, or governance domains.
• Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical initiatives, or improving developer workflows.
