Mid/Senior Software Engineer

Location: Canberra or Melbourne, Australia; must work from the office at least 3–4 days per week

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and enhance an open-source application platform covering infrastructure provisioning, application installation, and reliable production operations.
• Own the full development lifecycle from requirements analysis and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex development initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of engineering skills within the team.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and product teams to solve complex technical problems.
• Apply DevOps practices as part of a global team operating 24/7.

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in software engineering or computer science.
• 5–10 years of commercial software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering complex technical solutions and high-quality software.
• Proficiency in Java, SQL, and at least one other modern programming language.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
• Must have the right to work in Australia and be able to work from the Canberra or Melbourne office at least 3–4 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, TypeScript, Rust, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, or Debian.
• Interest in open-source technologies and distributed computing.
