Automation & Controls Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; onsite production-floor work

Salary: $100,000–$140,000 base per year plus equity

What you will do

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and production engineers to integrate automation across hardware and control layers.
• Design and develop electromechanical production tooling in-house or with external vendors.
• Build, activate, and qualify automation and controls projects across the production line.
• Implement HMI and PLC automation for easy machine operation and repeatable results.
• Apply production reliability and process-control strategies to improve takt rate and first-pass yield.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in high-volume manufacturing, production, or a hands-on engineering environment.
• Strong hands-on aptitude and willingness to work directly with hardware on the production floor.
• Experience with precision assembly or electromechanical integration processes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Must be a U.S. person under ITAR regulations or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export-control license.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial automation hardware, PLC/HMI and robotics control stacks, and electrical or fluid schematics.
• Experience in space, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.
• Experience designing automation systems for manufacturability and developing production processes from the ground up.
• Experience working with technicians and build tooling.
• Familiarity with NX or equivalent CAD software and GD&T.
