Front-end Software Development Engineer (Geospatial)

Location: Remote within the United States, with onsite work required in Herndon, Virginia

Salary: $93,000–$136,400 annually for positions within Colorado, New Jersey, and Delaware; other ranges apply by location.

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to software development for mission-critical systems, scalable APIs, and distributed microservices.
• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Work with open-source technologies supporting big data, geospatial imagery, and remote sensing applications.
• Build and maintain containerized systems using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Rancher.
• Automate infrastructure and deployments with Jenkins, Helm, Bash/Shell, and Python.
• Integrate third-party tools, optimize system performance, support testing automation, and troubleshoot technical issues with stakeholders.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, Asylee, or Refugee, and must be able to work onsite in Herndon, Virginia.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong backend focus.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and distributed architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, OpenShift, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, Gradle, Helm, Linux, and Bash/Shell scripting.
• Experience integrating third-party tools such as Keycloak, Kibana, Fluent Bit, or similar technologies.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with React or Vue, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ORM frameworks, OpenSearch, or Elasticsearch.
• Background in geospatial or remote sensing applications.
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing with Cypress, Agile/Scrum, or Atlassian tools.
• Familiarity with C++, C, Scala, or JavaScript.
