Senior Backend Software Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: San Jose, California, United States

Base pay: $145,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain software spanning edge devices and cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and support software for Raspberry Pi and similar embedded environments.
• Build scalable Python backend services on AWS.
• Ensure reliable data flow and integration between hardware and cloud services.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot production issues across hardware and software boundaries.
• Contribute across software development, infrastructure, and hardware testing as priorities change.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience building or managing applications on AWS.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex cross-disciplinary systems.
• Hands-on experience through projects, internships, or professional work.
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to have

• Experience with edge computing or embedded systems, including Raspberry Pi, GPIO, or sensors.
• Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerization.
• Willingness to learn additional languages or frameworks, such as Rust.
