Anatomic Pathology Lab Assistant (Part-time Days)

Location: Onsite at Central DuPage Hospital, 25 N. Winfield Rd., Winfield, Illinois. Part-time, 20 hours per week, day shift.

Salary: $21.35–$32.03 per hour.

What you will do

• Receive, verify, accession, track, and triage non-gynecological and surgical pathology specimens.
• Prepare, stain, cover-slip, file, and release cytology, histology, and frozen-section slides.
• Support FNA, EUS FNA, EBUS FNA, Ion FNA, and biopsy procedures by preparing supplies, forms, and slides.
• Order referral testing in the laboratory information system and document corrective actions when testing deviates from specifications.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including processors, centrifuges, microscopes, pipettes, cryostats, and stainers.
• Maintain supplies, safety practices, quality documentation, specimen retention records, and a clean work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Computer experience with Windows-based software.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Ability to identify and resolve or escalate problems affecting test performance and reporting.
• Ability to follow laboratory safety, testing, and regulatory procedures.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in a related field.
• Experience preparing body-fluid specimens, including gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
• At least three years of experience in a clinical setting.
