Incident Response Manager (Armed)

Location: The Met Fifth Avenue, New York, NY; employees must live within commuting distance in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania.

Salary: $105,000–$110,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead executive protection operations for dignitaries, VIPs, Trustees, and other high-profile individuals, including advance planning, venue assessments, route selection, threat analysis, and protective coverage.
• Develop and oversee security plans for special events, VIP arrivals, red-carpet events, gala functions, and official engagements.
• Conduct protective intelligence gathering, threat assessments, security sweeps, post-event evaluations, and suspicious-activity monitoring.
• Establish and maintain emergency response protocols for fires, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, elevator emergencies, security breaches, and collection-related incidents.
• Coordinate with local, state, federal, and foreign law-enforcement or protective agencies, contracted security vendors, and Museum security teams.
• Manage loss-prevention activities and support investigations involving lost assets, confidential information, theft, inventory shrinkage, and policy violations.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of experience in law enforcement or the fire department, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Experience in security management, law enforcement, military, fire-department operations, executive protection, investigations, or loss prevention.
• Knowledge of New York City Fire Safety codes and regulations and National Fire Protection Association Life Safety Codes.
• NYC Pistol Permit and NY Armed Guard License required; proficiency with firearms required.
• Training in de-escalation, strong judgment, communication, decision-making, professional conduct, and self-control under difficult circumstances.
• Must be available for shift, standby, incident, and emergency response duty, including nights, overnights, weekends, holidays, and extended schedules during crises.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Professional certifications or training in security, law enforcement, emergency management, or fire and life safety.
