Senior Backend Engineer

hirify.global develops fiber-sensing solutions for monitoring electrical power grids and oil and gas pipelines across thousands of kilometers, using AI and machine learning to support utility operations and environmental targets.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and platform components across edge and cloud environments.
• Own features end to end, from requirements and system design through deployment, monitoring, and long-term maintenance.
• Build ingestion, processing, and delivery pipelines for high-volume time-series sensing data.
• Troubleshoot production and field issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
• Collaborate with algorithms, hardware, DevOps, and product teams on integrations and cross-cutting requirements.
• Review code, improve testing and engineering practices, and mentor other engineers.

Requirements

• BSc in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in backend and system software development for complex systems.
• Highly proficient in Python.
• Experience building and operating cloud services, preferably with AWS.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, databases, and message brokers at production scale.
• Experience owning production systems, including deployment, observability, on-call-style debugging, and excellent English communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansible, Jenkins, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Helm, or Terraform.
• Data engineering experience with ETL or streaming pipelines, workflow orchestration, and large-scale time-series or telemetry data.
• Experience with edge or on-premise deployments, k3s, fleet management, and GitOps.
• Experience with C++, algorithms and machine learning projects, HPC/CUDA, GPU workload scheduling, or CI/CD and test automation.
