Lead Forward Deployed Engineer

Location: Austin, Texas, USA; hybrid, three days per week in the Austin office. Regular travel to customer and field sites and several trips per year to the R&D center in Israel are expected.

hirify.global is a growing startup mapping subsurface infrastructure and providing real-time utility data to the construction and infrastructure industry.

What you will do

• Build, prototype, validate, and deploy production-quality software for real customer problems.
• Work directly with field crews, operations teams, customers, job sites, and physical devices.
• Own integrations with enterprise APIs, utility GIS, national field-technology platforms, and industry ticketing networks.
• Develop the platform for utility locate-request and damage-prevention workflows, including intake, classification, routing, field coordination, escalations, auditability, analytics, and AI-assisted workflows.
• Turn field discoveries into reusable, scalable product capabilities in partnership with core engineering.
• Set technical direction, make architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and help grow the US engineering team while collaborating with the Israel-based R&D organization.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping across the stack.
• Experience personally building and deploying systems in ambiguous, customer-facing environments.
• Leadership experience through mentoring, setting technical direction, or running a small team.
• Strong fundamentals in data and databases, cloud and distributed systems, security and authentication, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar systems and make them work in the field.
• Fluency with AI coding, agentic flows, modern development practices, written and verbal communication, and remote collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with geospatial technologies and GIS.
• Experience with IoT, mobile, or field hardware.
• Background in utility, energy, transportation, AEC, or industrial software.
