What you will do

  • Act as the technical authority for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems across the U.S. clinic portfolio.
  • Publish the basis of design, engineering deliverable standards, and acceptance criteria for external consultants.
  • Review landlord work letters and base building conditions, translating technical findings into commercial requirements and redlines.
  • Own fire protection and life safety positions, including occupancy, egress, suppression, detection, alarms, and code bases across jurisdictions.
  • Lead value engineering, review contractor pricing and change orders, and defend technical recommendations to Finance and Estimating.
  • Build portfolio engineering datasets and benchmarking tools, while identifying opportunities for prefabrication, modularization, automation, and AI-enabled design review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, or Fire Protection Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience, including substantial experience on the owner, developer, or owner’s-representative side.
  • Experience leading designs and reviewing, challenging, and correcting external engineering consultant work and calculations.
  • Deep knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire suppression, fire alarm, and life safety systems in commercial or healthcare environments.
  • Experience working with code officials, fire departments, and plan reviewers across multiple jurisdictions, plus strong cost and technical communication skills.
  • Professional Engineer license or fire protection credentials such as PE (Fire Protection), SFPE, or NICET.

Nice to have

  • Experience in ambulatory care, outpatient clinics, diagnostic imaging, or medical device environments.
  • Multi-site rollout experience in healthcare, retail, hospitality, or commercial interiors.
  • Landlord-side or base building engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with Revit, BIM coordination, or energy modeling.
  • Experience with AI-enabled design review, automation, building management systems, or technical knowledge management.
