Director, Payroll Business Lead (DRI) (Payroll)

Location: New York City office, United States; hybrid

Salary: $240,000–$263,500 per year

What you will do

• Own the Payroll FY27 plan, including revenue, expansion, margin, LTV, ARPC, and overall financial outcomes.
• Set commercial strategy for customer acquisition across inbound marketing and partnerships.
• Lead pricing, packaging, monetization, bundling, and new paid-service initiatives.
• Direct Payroll execution across Marketing, Technology, Operations, Product, Finance, Revenue, and Risk & Insurance.
• Own the Payroll-to-PEO expansion pathway, from identifying upgrade-ready customers to reducing migration friction.
• Represent Payroll in leadership forums and build operating systems that align stakeholders around measurable outcomes.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of professional experience with ownership of a business line, P&L, or comparable end-to-end commercial outcome.
• Experience as a co-founder, General Manager, DRI, or business owner accountable for revenue, margin, or growth.
• Strong business and financial acumen, including P&L, unit economics, LTV/CAC, ARPC, pricing, and packaging.
• Experience setting commercial strategy and executing cross-functional initiatives through influence rather than direct authority.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with Excel, SQL, and data-driven decision-making.
• Executive presence, sound judgment, professional ethics, and the ability to bring structure to an entrepreneurial, ambiguous environment.
