Director, Accounting (SaaS)

Location: Boston, MA or Houston, TX, United States

Base salary: $157,310–$251,700 USD annually, plus variable incentive pay, flexible work options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the global accounting function and oversee daily accounting operations.
• Own the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting, month-end and quarter-end close processes, and compliance activities.
• Lead annual audits and collaborate with external auditors.
• Build scalable accounting processes, systems, workflows, and internal controls for a growing SaaS organization.
• Partner with Finance, FP&A, Legal, Billing, AR, and business stakeholders to align operational activities with financial outcomes.
• Guide the accounting team, develop talent, and contribute hands-on to technical accounting and reporting deliverables.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience in a SaaS or technology-driven organization.
• Strong expertise in US GAAP, financial reporting, and month-end and quarter-end close management.
• Experience leading teams and developing accounting talent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite or similar, financial reporting tools, and consolidation tools.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance frameworks, process improvement, and audit requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with SaaS revenue recognition, ASC 606, subscription models, and billing integrations.
• Experience partnering with FP&A systems such as Adaptive or Anaplan.
• Experience shortening close cycles and improving reporting accuracy.
• CPA certification.
