Tier 2 Operations Engineer (Active Top-Secret)

Location: Washington, D.C.; hybrid schedule with 2 remote days per week after integration into the team and mission. Telework may be removed by the client.

What you will do

• Administer VMware Horizon 8 Connection Server environments, virtual desktops, published applications, desktop pools, and related VDI components.
• Install, configure, patch, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot VDI infrastructure across cloud-hosted and on-premises environments.
• Provide Tier II/Tier III support for globally distributed users across multiple time zones.
• Administer Linux and Windows servers, distributed data systems, user accounts, permissions, access controls, and security compliance processes.
• Perform health checks, log analysis, performance tuning, incident response, vulnerability remediation, backup and recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Maintain technical documentation and coordinate with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams; participate in on-call rotations and maintenance activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure environments.
• Hands-on experience administering VMware Horizon 8, including Connection Servers, Citrix, desktop pools, and application publishing.
• Experience with Windows Server, Linux, cloud infrastructure, hybrid environments, distributed systems monitoring, and operational incident response.
• Strong enterprise troubleshooting, customer support, communication, networking, authentication, virtualization, and collaboration skills.
• Active Top-Secret clearance required; candidates with a Secret clearance may be considered.

Nice to have

• Federal government or Department of War environment experience.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements, including the NIST Risk Management Framework.
• Experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, Microsoft Azure, or relevant certifications such as VCP, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft, or Linux certifications.
