Director, Solutions Data Centers (Data Centers)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, USA; domestic travel typically 25–30%.

Salary: $144,500–$170,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead solution architecture for data center integrated facilities management pursuits, expansions, renewals, and rebids.
• Translate RFI, RFP, SLA, KPI, MOP, SOP, uptime, and criticality requirements into defensible operating models.
• Build labor models, organizational structures, scope matrices, staffing plans, cost assumptions, and commercial constructs.
• Author technical responses covering solution narratives, mobilization, transition, technology, governance, risks, assumptions, and exclusions.
• Lead solution workshops, site walks, due-diligence visits, and client presentations for engineering and procurement stakeholders.
• Develop reusable solution assets, benchmark staffing ratios, maintenance programs, and engineering technology approaches.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Facilities or Construction Management, or a related technical discipline; equivalent military or trade-progression experience may be considered.
• 10+ years of experience in facilities management, critical facilities operations, or engineering services, including 5+ years in data center or mission-critical environments.
• 5+ years of experience in FM solutions development, bid management, or senior operations with ownership of staffing models and cost build-ups.
• Experience building and defending critical-facilities engineering staffing models for technical clients.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution, redundancy topologies, UPS, generators, mechanical cooling, liquid cooling, BMS/EPMS, and fire life safety.
• Fluency in FM commercial models, SLA/KPI regimes, pricing mechanics, advanced Excel modeling, and technical communication; willingness to travel domestically 25–30%.

Nice to have

• Experience with hyperscale, colocation, or AI/HPC clients.
• PE, CEM, CFM, ATD/ATS, CDCP/CDCS, PMP, LEED AP, or NFPA 70E certification.
• Experience with union environments, prevailing wage, global or multi-region portfolios, and CMMS/IWMS platforms.
