Critical Facilities Engineer (Data Center)

Location: New Castle, Delaware, United States. Onsite work involving critical HVAC and power rooms, rooftops, equipment yards, and raised-floor computer rooms. Standard shift is 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with on-call coverage two weeks on and two weeks off and second- and third-shift coverage for planned time off.

Annual base salary: $81,000–$109,600, with potential discretionary bonus and stock awards depending on role eligibility.

What you will do

• Plan, design, install, maintain, and upgrade critical facility infrastructure across the data center network.
• Track and analyze data center space, power, cooling, and forecasted equipment load requirements.
• Manage preventive maintenance, projects, vendors, contracts, equipment specifications, bids, and Statements of Work.
• Maintain maintenance records, deficiency tracking, repair plans, documentation, and replacement forecasts.
• Produce commissioning, certification, and testing checklists for life safety, security, power, and environmental systems.
• Review engineering and as-built drawings, conduct site surveys, and verify system supervision by the Network Operations Center.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Telecommunications Engineering, technical school qualification, or equivalent job-related experience.
• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications or a related industry, emphasizing facility maintenance, power systems, mechanical systems, and operations.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, 480 V three-phase utility power, diesel generators, critical UPS systems, −48 V DC power plants, and chiller plants.
• Ability to engineer complete power and HVAC systems for new construction and facility expansions.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal and external personnel and prioritize technical risks and issues.
• Ability to access critical infrastructure areas and perform work in equipment yards, on rooftops, and within raised-floor computer rooms.
