Sr Data Center Design Manager (AI Infrastructure)

Location: Livingston, NJ; New York, NY; Sunnyvale, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Bellevue, WA. The role requires 25% travel to data center sites and access to export-controlled information; applicants must be eligible under applicable U.S. export regulations.

Base salary: $143,000–$210,000 per year, plus discretionary bonus, equity awards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the design and coordination of multiple data center projects from concept and feasibility through detailed design, construction, fit-out, upgrades, and replacements.
• Manage architects, engineers, equipment suppliers, contractors, and data center providers as the primary design contact.
• Coordinate electrical, mechanical, LV/IT, and BMS requirements with internal subject-matter experts.
• Apply design standards, industry practices, value engineering, and deviation tracking to optimize cost, performance, and scalability.
• Coordinate budgets, schedules, forecasts, vendor selection, consultant invoices, equipment submittals, commissioning plans, and testing scripts.
• Conduct construction site visits, review design implementation, report project progress, and support handoff to Construction Management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in an MEP discipline.
• 7+ years of data center engineering or design experience with completed data center design projects.
• Strong knowledge of cooling systems, including air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, liquid cooling, power distribution, UPS systems, generators, BMS, and LV/IT design.
• Experience with large-scale, high-density data centers and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong project management, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be eligible to access export-controlled information under applicable U.S. government regulations.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Uptime Institute, BICSI, LEED, or similar certification.
• Experience with emerging cooling and power technologies for high-density AI infrastructure.
