Director of Global Privacy and Compliance

Location: Bethesda, MD, USA

Salary: $162,000–$225,000 USD annually, plus discretionary annual bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and oversee the global privacy program across GDPR, US, APAC, LATAM, and other applicable data protection regulations.
• Design and maintain global ethics and compliance policies, controls, training, monitoring, and reporting.
• Manage privacy impact assessments, risk assessments, data breach response, cross-border data transfers, and remediation.
• Support anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance, including FCPA, the UK Bribery Act, conflicts of interest, gifts and entertainment, and government interactions.
• Oversee third-party due diligence, contracting, monitoring, investigations, escalations, and corrective actions.
• Lead the enterprise risk management process and report compliance metrics and trends to senior leadership and the General Counsel.

Requirements

• Law degree or equivalent advanced degree.
• 10+ years of privacy experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a CRO, pharmaceutical, life sciences, or other highly regulated organization.
• Deep knowledge of global privacy regulations, including GDPR, APAC laws, and HIPAA.
• Experience with ABAC, FCPA, third-party risk management, conflicts of interest, investigations, training, monitoring, and remediation.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, risk assessment, and global program-building skills.
• Fluent English required; additional languages are advantageous.

Nice to have

• CCEP, CIPP/E, or another privacy or compliance certification.
• Previous regional leadership experience in the life sciences sector.
• Experience designing or operating privacy and ethics programs in a highly regulated industry.
