Director, Privacy Operations

Location: Tysons, Virginia, United States; hybrid work environment with defined in-person presence requirements

Salary: $154,400–$299,600 annually for work performed in Virginia, depending on experience, education, skills, and market factors.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise privacy governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls.
• Lead privacy assessments across departments to identify, mitigate, and remediate privacy risks.
• Direct privacy incident response operations, including investigations, incident management, and remediation of data loss events.
• Manage relationships related to privacy technology solutions used to document and record privacy activities.
• Advise technology and data governance initiatives by translating privacy objectives into operational frameworks and properly tuned technical controls.
• Establish and report privacy program performance metrics to the Board and executive management, while planning staffing, technology, and training investments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of professional experience.
• At least 5 years of direct experience in data privacy roles, preferably in a regulated industry.
• Experience conducting privacy assessments, audits, investigations, and compliance activities.
• Experience managing and remediating privacy-related loss reports and incidents.
• Experience supervising and implementing large-scale processes or projects, with demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff.
• Strong collaboration, communication, public speaking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, plus knowledge of privacy regulations, standards, and best practices.

Nice to have

• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) certification.
• Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification.
• Experience creating and maintaining comprehensive risk registers.
