Privacy Counsel (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in Waltham, Massachusetts, Monday through Thursday

Salary: $175,000–$215,000 annually

What you will do

• Provide legal oversight and strategic guidance on privacy, data protection, data management, information security, and compliance matters.
• Develop and mature the enterprise-wide global privacy program following the integration with Advanced Instruments.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage privacy notices, Data Processing Agreements, data-transfer agreements, Business Associate Agreements, and related documentation.
• Build programs for data-subject rights, retention and destruction, cookie governance, consent management, vendor due diligence, and privacy impact assessments.
• Lead legal activities related to personal data breaches, including notification analysis, escalation paths, jurisdictional requirements, and breach records.
• Partner with Information Technology, Information Security, Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance, business teams, regulators, outside counsel, and international stakeholders.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar; Massachusetts Bar admission is preferred.
• At least eight years of relevant legal experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or comparable environment.
• Extensive knowledge of global privacy, data-protection, data-management, cybersecurity, GDPR, and U.S. federal and state privacy laws.
• Experience operationalizing global privacy programs, managing data-subject-rights requests, breach response, impact assessments, retention schedules, cookie and consent management, vendor reviews, and Data Processing Agreements.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, analytical, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
• Certified Information Privacy Professional certification or a comparable privacy credential.
• Experience with commercial contracting, compliance programs, mergers and acquisitions, healthcare matters, and strategic transactions.
