Design Engineer II (Mechanical)

Location: Zeeland, Michigan, United States; on-site. Local customer-site travel and occasional domestic travel are required. Must have the current and continuing right to work in the United States without restrictions or expirations.

What you will do

• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams throughout product development.
• Lead the design, development, prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical assemblies and product systems.
• Create CAD models, perform tolerance and fit analysis, strength calculations, and technical documentation.
• Develop validation strategies, including certified laboratory testing and field validation.
• Lead design reviews, guide technical decisions, estimate project scope and timelines, and support customer proposals.
• Provide technical leadership to customers and vendors, improve engineering tools and processes, and mentor entry-level engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as Creo and/or SolidWorks.
• Advanced knowledge of FMEA and DVP&R, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, documentation, and customer-facing skills.
• Current and continuing unrestricted right to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

• Furniture industry experience.
• Experience working in ambiguous, adaptable, or entrepreneurial environments.
