R&D Engineer (Product Development Designer / Engineer) (Automotive)

What you will do

• Support the design and development of products, components, assemblies, fixtures, and customer-specific modifications.
• Create and update 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of material, and product information in SAP and other engineering systems.
• Perform engineering analysis, design reviews, tolerance evaluations, product improvements, testing, and validation.
• Coordinate prototype builds, evaluate prototypes, document test results, and prepare engineering reports.
• Work with Manufacturing and Quality on production launches, process development, engineering changes, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in cross-functional projects and communicate project status, risks, and technical findings; travel to customers, suppliers, and company locations as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of mechanical design, product development, manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Experience with 3D CAD software and engineering drawings; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Ability to support APQP, DVP&R, FMEA, prototype builds, product testing, and validation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• Ability to work with Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, customers, and other cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, or similar quality systems.
• SAP experience.
• Manufacturing or automotive industry experience.
