Manufacturing Engineering Internship (Mechanical Engineering)

Location: Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, United States; Monday-Friday in office

Salary: $24–26 per hour

PI (Physik Instrumente) designs and manufactures high-precision positioning, motion, and automation systems for technology and research customers.

What you will do

• Design fixtures for assembly, metrology, and manufacturing applications.
• Create 3D models and engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
• Machine and modify fixtures and production parts using milling machines, lathes, saws, and 3D printers.
• Troubleshoot assembly, metrology, R&D, manufacturing, defect, and quality issues.
• Improve manufacturing and assembly processes and create build and inspection documentation.
• Upload documents to the Product Lifecycle Management system and organize shop tooling and materials.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university, studying mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, including milling, turning, and surface grinding.
• Experience with CNC or manual machining and a basic understanding of mechanical systems.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
