Mechanical Engineer Intern - Summer 2027 (Packaging Automation)

Location: Huntington, Indiana, USA; full-time, onsite internship.

What you will do

• Assist with designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, machine layouts, and systems for packaging equipment.
• Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, controls, and project management teams.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation, troubleshooting, and product improvement activities.
• Research and analyze technical information to support new product development and improve machine performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline at an accredited university.
• Junior or senior standing with an understanding of mechanical design principles, machine components, engineering materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D and 3D and exposure to 3D modeling or simulation tools such as Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret and create technical drawings and specifications according to ASME and ISO standards.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, collaboration, attention-to-detail, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to adapt to changing priorities, technologies, and requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with Autodesk Inventor.
