Thermal Engineering Intern Spring 2027 (Aerospace)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; full-time, on-site work for at least 12 consecutive weeks beginning January, February, or March 2027

What you will do

• Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real thermal and spacecraft production challenges.
• Work with mentors and department employees to develop technical and professional skills.
• Support a thermal engineering team involved in the spacecraft production lifecycle from conception through flight.
• Collaborate across disciplines, including guidance, navigation and control and mechanical engineering.
• Attend regular mentor and supervisor meetings to provide progress updates and support learning.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.
• Have at least 3 months of applied engineering experience through an internship, laboratory work, or personal or team projects.
• Be able to work full-time on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks.
• For work in United States offices, meet applicable ITAR eligibility or authorization requirements.

Nice to have

• GPA of 3.5 or above and at least 6 months of applied engineering experience.
• Thermal engineering experience.
• Experience with CAD/CAM, finite element analysis, machining, or lathe operation.
