What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize produced water, cooling, desalination, and wastewater treatment systems.
• Analyze water chemistry and process data to recommend filtration, softening, chemical dosing, membrane, and related treatment methods.
• Support feasibility studies, equipment selection, capital project design, and commissioning for industrial water treatment facilities.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal environmental regulations, including EPA and TCEQ requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Collaborate with production engineers, environmental specialists, and operations personnel to improve efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and control operating costs.
• Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, prepare technical documentation, and provide guidance to designers, drafters, junior engineers, and operations staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of overall experience, including 5+ years on hydrocarbon, energy, chemical processing, and/or manufacturing projects.
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, chemical treatment, water and wastewater system design, and environmental permitting.
• Experience with cooling towers, reverse or forward osmosis, ion exchange, ultrafiltration, electrodeionization, and auxiliary systems.
• Ability to manage large-scale projects from design through commissioning and provide technical guidance, including P&ID review.
• Knowledge of current water treatment industry standards, trends, and innovations.

Nice to have

• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally.
• Professional Engineer license, advanced degree, or operations and maintenance experience.
• Experience with reclaim or zero-liquid-discharge projects.
• Strong process optimization, analytical, data interpretation, regulatory compliance, collaboration, and team leadership skills.
