Mechanical Engineering Intern (Year-Round)

Location: Saukville, Wisconsin, United States; onsite at the Charter Steel processing plant

What you will do

• Partner with the Maintenance Mechanical Engineer on hands-on engineering projects throughout the processing plant.
• Support machine design, equipment upgrades, part design, and plant layout improvements.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects focused on plant operations, safety, and efficiency.
• Incorporate safety and environmental considerations into equipment and process designs.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams from design through implementation.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a four-year program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks.

Nice to have

• Advanced Excel and analyst skills.
• AutoCAD experience.
• Exposure to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools.
