TL;DR
Process Engineer Intern (Manufacturing): Supporting and improving manufacturing processes at Crane Resistoflex through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, tooling design, and process changes with an accent on safety, quality, throughput, and cost reduction. Focus on implementing production improvements, leading continuous improvement projects, and completing IATF 16949 quality activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and process capability studies.

Location: Marion, North Carolina, United States; hands-on work on the shop floor is required.

What you will do

  • Support production through daily troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of safety, quality, and throughput issues.
  • Design and implement tooling, process controls, and manufacturing method improvements.
  • Lead cost-reduction projects from ideation and feasibility through capital expenditure approval, implementation, and sustainment.
  • Improve process stability, reduce variability, increase yields, and identify corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Work with safety, quality, operations, and other functions on engineering projects and continuous improvement events.
  • Support IATF 16949 quality activities, including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and process capability studies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. in engineering or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Ability to understand process and product specifications.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing shop-floor environment.
  • Ability to meet and improve requirements under standards including ISO 9001, PED 2014/68/EU, API Spec. Q1, and API 6D.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and 5S practices.
  • Experience with data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
  • Basic understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
  • Working experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
