Company
is an end-to-end aerospace company developing rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for commercial, exploration, and national security missions.
What you will do
- Lead mechanical and mechanism development efforts for space robotics, precision mechanisms, electromechanical assemblies, tooling, fixtures, and ground support equipment.
- Own technical execution for components and subsystems from concept development and trade studies through detailed design, procurement, build, integration, testing, qualification, and delivery.
- Develop mechanical architectures, interfaces, packaging concepts, verification plans, and design-risk mitigation strategies.
- Create and maintain SolidWorks models, production drawings, bills of material, assembly documentation, test procedures, and design analyses.
- Lead design, manufacturing, and test reviews while coordinating engineering, production, quality, supply chain, vendors, and test stakeholders.
- Support assembly, integration, troubleshooting, inspection, environmental testing, qualification testing, and technical documentation; mentor less-experienced engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience, including aerospace, spaceflight, robotics, or other high-reliability hardware development.
- 3+ years serving as a responsible engineer or technical lead for mechanical components or subsystems.
- Strong experience with precision mechanisms, robotic systems, aerospace hardware, electromechanical assemblies, SolidWorks, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and finite element analysis.
- Experience delivering hardware through design, procurement, build, integration, environmental testing, qualification, and delivery, as well as leading technical reviews and cross-functional execution.
- For U.S. office work, eligibility under ITAR requirements is necessary, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, qualifying refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with robotic manipulators, in-space servicing, planetary robotics, spacecraft mechanisms, or satellite deployment systems.
- Experience with motorized mechanisms, actuators, gimbals, gear trains, harmonic drives, bearings, rotary sensors, launch locks, release devices, or kinematic interfaces.
- Experience with structural, vibration, thermal, or thermal-elastic analysis, environmental test data, AS9100, configuration management, failure analysis, or test-anomaly resolution.
Culture & Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including HMO, PPO, and a zero-cost HDHP option with HSA contributions.
- Paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and flexible spending accounts.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match and an employee stock purchase program with a 15% discount.
- Company equity is included in the total compensation package.
