Company

hirify.global develops high-performance RF products and services for space and defense missions, including deployable, monitorable, and scalable radio technology platforms.

What you will do

  • Own space radio enclosure and chassis design from concept and CAD through drawings, fabrication, assembly, and qualification.
  • Design thermal paths for vacuum operation and perform hot- and cold-case analysis, correlating models with thermal vacuum test data.
  • Perform static, modal, random vibration, and shock structural analysis, including fastener and joint analysis, mass and center-of-gravity budgets, and margins of safety.
  • Plan and run vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, and thermal cycling qualification campaigns, including test plans and fixture design.
  • Create manufacturing-ready drawing packages and work with machine shops and contract manufacturers on DFM, quoting, and first-article inspection.
  • Partner with RF and PCB engineers on SWaP trades, mounting, shielding, grounding, connectors, waveguides, and mechanical interfaces while establishing engineering standards and mentoring others.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of mechanical design experience, including hardware that has flown or been qualified for flight.
  • Expert-level CAD skills, preferably SolidWorks, or equivalent NX or Creo experience, with GD&T to ASME Y14.5.
  • Demonstrated thermal design experience for vacuum environments and structural FEA covering random vibration and shock.
  • Hands-on ownership of at least one environmental qualification campaign from test planning through reporting.
  • Strong DFM experience with precision machining and sheet metal, plus the ability to make and defend engineering decisions across electrical, RF, and program teams.
  • Must meet U.S. Government ITAR eligibility requirements, including U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Nice to have

  • Mechanical design experience for RF payloads or space radios, including shielding, gasketing, EMI containment, waveguide, and connector interfaces.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop, Ansys Icepak, or FloTHERM.
  • Familiarity with radiation environments, shielding mass trades, smallsat form factors, ESPA-class payloads, or common bus interfaces.
  • Hands-on integration and test experience, including builds, harnessing, torque control, and mechanical I&T.
  • Prior technical leadership or mentorship of mechanical engineers.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hands-on work within a small hardware engineering team.
  • Opportunity to establish CAD, drawing, PDM, review, and analysis practices.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • HSA and 401(k) programs.
  • Equity grant and an inclusive, accessible workplace.
