What you will do

• Provide senior underwriting leadership for subject-matter-expert teams supporting referrals and consultations across Small, Middle Market, and Large Account business.
• Ensure underwriting decisions align with enterprise appetite, practices, strategies, and portfolio objectives.
• Coach, train, mentor, and develop underwriters while strengthening authority delegation and succession readiness.
• Lead Strategic Business Unit Leaders in monitoring economic, technological, social, political, and environmental factors affecting market segments.
• Collaborate with actuarial, analytics, claims, legal, marketing, product, regulatory, risk, and regional teams to shape underwriting strategy.
• Engage with customers, agents, insureds, and regional teams to balance underwriting expectations with market intelligence, sales, and growth.

Requirements

• 10+ years of standard Commercial Lines underwriting experience.
• Deep and broad technical underwriting expertise across relevant market segments.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including the ability to act under ambiguity and explain decision rationale.
• Proven leadership, project management, customer service, sales, negotiation, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• College degree preferred.
