Staff Mechanical Operator (AI)

Location: Abernathy, Texas; River Bend, Louisiana; or New Lebanon, Indiana. Onsite work with rotating shifts and on-call responsibility for mechanical outages.

Salary: $200,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

• Own mechanical operations during shifts and serve as the escalation point for mechanical system failures.
• Manage preventive-maintenance execution, vendor supervision, lockout/tagout, scheduling, and quality assurance.
• Lead root-cause analysis for mechanical incidents and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Create and maintain mechanical SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs while training operators on failure-response procedures.
• Monitor BMS alarms and equipment trends to identify degradation before failure.
• Complete commissioning-to-operations handoffs for new mechanical plants and support live operations during construction and expansion.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of hands-on mechanical or critical-facilities operations experience.
• Experience supporting data centers, hyperscale operators, colocation providers, or comparable critical infrastructure.
• Deep knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, air handlers, pumps, and hydronic loops, including startup, failover, and recovery under load.
• Strong BMS experience with trend analysis, alarm tuning, and controls-based equipment fault diagnosis.
• Experience owning root-cause analysis and preventive-maintenance programs at scale.
• Ability to make decisions during outages and work rotating shifts with on-call responsibility.

Nice to have

• Experience with direct-to-chip liquid cooling or CDUs.
• EPA 608 Universal or equivalent certification.
• Commissioning handover experience for new-build mechanical plants.
